In March of 1912 the discovery of oil on the Wheeler farm in Creek County started the greatest oil field in the world at the time. Thousands of people rushed into barren hill country and founded a dozen oil field towns. Drumright, Oklahoma was the heart of this new field and has survived for more than 96 years.
